August 6, 2007 | Congratulations, Dr. Johnson-Delaney!
Dr. Johnson-Delaney was elected President of the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians at the members meeting in Providence RI on August 6. The Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians is an international organization with over 600 members, dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of exotic companion mammals, educating veterinarians, veterinary technicians and pet owners about non-traditional mammal pets. www.aemv.org.

June 6, 2007 | One Year Anniversary
The Eastside Avian & Exotic Animal Medical Center is celebrating its 1-year anniversary of opening. The year went extremely fast and we thank all of you who have helped to make it successful.

June 10, 2007 | Certification
The Association of Avian Veterinarians introduced a Focused Course Program in 2004 and has awarded 14 certificates. Dr. Cathy Johnson-Delaney was awarded a Certificate for completing the course in Pathology/Diagnostics/Disease/Therapy.
The purpose/benefits of the program are to:
• Provide AAV members attending the annual conference with an AAV-recognized certificate focused on courses in selected topics applicable to avian practice.
• Provide public recognition/acknowledgement to veterinarians completing the course.
• Provide a benefit unique to AAV members attending the annual conference.
• Allow the average AAV member attending the annual conference to be able to complete one or
more courses in 1-3 years.
Six courses are available for certification:
• Aviculture/Population management/rehabilitation
• Behavior/Handling/Restraint
• Emergency/Critical Care
• Nutrition
• Pathology/Diagnostics/Disease/Therapy
• Surgery/Anesthesia
